A message from our new chair of governors

Message From the New Chair of Governors for The Federation of Bedwas Junior and Rhydri Primary Schools

Dear Parent / Carer,

I was honoured and delighted to be elected the new Chair of Governors at the Federation Annual General Meeting on September 15th 2021 and look forward to working closely with Mr Cook and the staff at Bedwas Junior and Rhydri Primary school over the coming year.

I wanted to introduce myself to you all first. Born in West Wales, brought up in Cardiff, I have lived in Caerphilly for almost 30 years. My wife and I have been part of the community in Waterloo since 2012 and know the Bedwas and Rhydri area very well by now. I am a fluent Welsh speaker and graduated from Cardiff University before starting a professional life mainly focussed on working in the energy sector. I now have a strong interest in small business entrepreneurial success and actively support and invest in start-up and growing businesses in Wales. I also serve as a governor at Coleg y Cymoedd further education college.

The past year has been difficult for all of us. I would like to thank the previous Chair Ms Samantha Graf on the leadership she has shown and support for the schools throughout the pandemic. I am hopeful that now is a time to look forward and as a Board of Governors support the schools to deliver the best possible for the children.

I am committed to meeting the headteacher and staff regularly and visiting the schools to get a first-hand view of the stimulating and caring environment created and nurtured for the children. We will continue to cultivate excellence and enjoyment in learning as per the Federation’s vision and of course celebrate the achievement of all associated with the schools.

Good luck to all for the coming year.

Kind regards

Andrew Diplock
