Bedwas

Dear Parent / Carer,

Return to School

It has been great having all the children back in; they have come back with positivity and seem more than ready to take on what’s left of this very disrupted year! Whilst wanting the children to be in on site as much as possible Public Health Wales have stated that if a child is at all unwell they should not be in school. This advice is understandable but difficult to apply in practice; we will work with you to achieve the best solution we can.

Notifying School of Covid Test Results

As before, you will need to contact the school by e-mail or phone as soon as possible if a child’s test result comes back positive. If this is outside normal school hours please e-mail your message to the school address – bwaja@caerphilly.gov.uk

Any notifications of class closures will be sent out via Text2Parents and posted on the federation’s website. If you change your mobile number please let Mrs Dee in the school office know so that she can update your contact details.

We are aware of the problem of update messages from the website going into ‘spam’ and are working on a solution for this.

Breakfast Club

Breakfast Club remains closed at the moment. The Governing Body regularly reviews this but with the Welsh Government guidance remaining either unchanged or more stringent in some areas, for the same reasons as before, we are unable to provide this service. It would be impossible to run the club and maintain the class bubbles due to staffing and the availability of appropriate rooms.

Bedwas School Allotment

Our Lower School Hub children made a start before half term and now Green Class are continuing the good work on our school allotment which was kindly offered to the school. This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to get outside and work on something together. All the children who have been over to the site have been a credit to themselves and we are really pleased to be able to get out (safely) into the community to take part in an activity like this.

Music Lessons

Face to face instrumental lessons will recommence after Easter. If you wish your child to continue to access these payment for the summer term needs to be made by 23rd April. If we do not receive payment by this date we will assume that you no longer wish your child to have lessons. If you chose not to access the online lessons offered by Caerphilly Music Service during the spring lockdown this does not prevent your child accessing the lessons; they will still be on the list for lessons unless you asked for them to be removed.

Cashless System for School Lunches

We will be transferring to a cashless system for the payment of school lunches as part of a roll out of this service across Caerphilly schools. We hope that the system will be ready to go live from 24th May. We will send home information from Caerphilly Catering explaining how things will work as soon as we receive the packs. You will be able to pay for the meals via the ‘UpayChilli’ app.

INSET Day

The children will return to school after the Easter holidays on Tuesday 13th April. Monday 12th April is an INSET day.

We are doing all we can to keep everyone safe, during these times we all rely on each other to follow the guidance set and we each play a part in working to reduce the impact of Covid. Thank you for all that you continue to do; stay safe!
