Staff Secondments
Congratulations to two members of staff who have secured secondments for the next school year as part of their ongoing professional development. Mr Lloyd will be working at Bedwas High School for the next academic year supporting the new Year 7 with transition and the development of transferrable skills; this is a great opportunity for him and will help to strengthen links between us and the High School. Miss Bodenham who has been on secondment with the Educational Psychology service for the last two terms has now secured a secondment with the Local Authority where she will support the development of the new Expressive Arts Curriculum.
Hot Weather
Although it seems to have been a long time in coming it looks like summer is nearly here so as usual, could you make sure that your child has sun cream applied before they come to school and has a hat if possible? We are trying to use the outside as much as we are able and need to make sure that the children are as safe as they can be.
Transition
Bedwas High School’s transition visit will take place on the morning of Monday July 5th. In order to facilitate this visit, from the Monday morning for that week only, our bubble allocations will change. The Year 6 pupils from Blue Class will form a bubble with the Y6 in Red Class. This will allow them to attend the transition visit together and take part in all the activities. Two pupils from Rhydri who will be attending Bedwas High School will join with them and will be isolating together from their class group in order to be able to join the transition bubble. The children in Bedwas Y6 who are not attending BHS next year will be part of this new Year 6 bubble for that week but will remain on site in their own bubble when their peers are on the visit morning.
The children will remain in this bubble group for the week to avoid crossing the groups. They will still be spaced well and all the existing Covid procedures will be followed. They will return to their usual groupings from Monday 12th July pending there being no symptomatic individuals or test results.
If there are any children or adults from either group who are symptomatic within the designated Public Health Wales 48 hour window of contact before or after the changes then no bubbles will be changed until that is resolved with proof of a negative test result.
If you do not wish your child to take part in the transition visit to Bedwas High please let us know and they can remain on site with the non-BHS Y6 members of their new bubble for the transition morning.
The restrictions and guidance in place make important events for the children like this extremely frustrating and challenging to organise and the solution we have chosen will hopefully give the children what they need and allow them to access the morning’s activities with the High School whilst keeping everyone as safe as we can. With all of the challenges and difficulties faced by everyone over the last 18 months, the more we can do to support our children as they take these big steps the better!
Parent Teacher Consultations
These will be offered through allocated phone appointments as before during the last week of term (w/c 12th July). Please phone the school office to check which days your child’s teacher is scheduling appointments and book your call.
Reminder - Notifying School of Covid Test Results
There is currently no change to the process in place. You will need to contact the school by e-mail or phone as soon as possible if a child’s test result comes back positive. If this is outside normal school hours please e-mail your message to the school address – bwaja@caerphilly.gov.uk
Any notifications of class closures will be sent out via Text2Parents and posted on the federation’s website. If you change your mobile number please let Mrs Dee in the school office know so that she can update your contact details.
CCBC are arranging an alternative system whereby parents can inform a central hub who will then contact schools. Once this has been implemented we will pass on the details to you and post the information on the Federation’s website.
Stay safe!
