Rhydri Newsletter 16.6.21
Parent Teacher Consultations
These will be offered through allocated phone appointments as before during the last week of term (w/c 12th July). Please phone the school office to check which days your child’s teacher is scheduling appointments and book your call.
Fresh Air Friday
Thanks to the Parish Hall for hosting our first Friday sports afternoon last week. Despite being in the middle of beautiful countryside our lovely school has very restricted grounds so it is brilliant to be able to utilise the large (flat!!) field at the Parish Hall and the children of Bronze, Silver and Gold enjoyed an afternoon of sports there and, weather permitting, will do so again this week!
Upbeat Music
Thanks to funding from the PTA, Rhydri will be welcoming Upbeat Music to our school on Friday. Each class will enjoy a drumming workshop each during the day. Gold and Silver will have a Samba workshop delivered and Bronze and Rainbow will be having an African drumming workshop. All sessions are scheduled to take place outside weather permitting. Here’s hoping the music of Rio brings some matching weather to Rhydri! Thanks again to the PTA for suggesting and funding this.
Staff Secondments
Congratulations to two members of Federation staff who have secured secondments for the next school year as part of their ongoing professional development. Mr Lloyd (Y5 Bedwas) will be working at Bedwas High School for the next academic year supporting the new Year 7 with transition and the development of transferrable skills; this is a great opportunity for him and will help to strengthen links between the Federation and the High School. Miss Bodenham (DHT) who has been on secondment with the Educational Psychology service for the last two terms has now secured a secondment with the Local Authority where she will support the development of the new Expressive Arts Curriculum.
Hot Weather
Although it seems to have been a long time in coming it looks like summer is nearly here so as usual, could you make sure that your child has suncream applied before they come to school and has a hat if possible? We are trying to get outside as much as we are able and need to make sure that the children are as safe as they can be.
Reminder - Notifying School of Covid Test Results
There is currently no change to the process in place. You will need to contact the school by e-mail or phone as soon as possible if a child’s test result comes back positive. If this is outside normal school hours please text Miss Lewis on 07825 952705.
Any notifications of class closures will be sent out via Text2Parents and posted on the federation’s website. If you change your mobile number please let Miss Lewis in the school office know so that she can update your contact details.
CCBC is still in the process of setting up an alternative system whereby parents can inform a central hub who will then contact schools. Once this has been implemented we will pass on the details to you and post the information on the Federation’s website.
Stay safe!
