Cluster Sports Champions
Congratulations to the Bedwas team who took part in the Cluster Sports Day held at Machen Welfare Ground last week. Our team competed against Ty’n Y Wern, Graig Y Rhacca, St Helen’s, Machen and our sister school, Rhydri. Every member of the team was a credit to themselves and we came out very worthy winners! We now have the winners’ shield on display in our reception area.
Playworks After-School Provision
Playworks used to run their after-school provision from our canteen building but, due to low demand, had to change to offering the service from their Bedwas House Nursery base. A link has been posted on the school website (address above) for an expression of interest form in order for them to see if it will be viable for them to re-start their provision on our site. If you would be interested in utilising their provision, even if only on a casual basis, please complete the form. All information regarding their services and the costs involved should be available on their website.
New Curriculum Survey
Over the summer holiday a survey will be open on our website to help with our new curriculum provision. Amongst other things, we are trying to gather information about the kinds of skills and experiences you have which you might be willing to share with the school in order to help us enhance our curriculum offer. You may also have knowledge of or links with external organisations or sites which you feel might help us with certain themes. Some suggestions that are gathered in the form might help guide us down new and exciting routes.
Skate Academy
We are hoping to be able to host an after school club for next year’s Year 4 and 5 children (current Yellow, Green and Orange Classes) in the first instance run by Skate Academy. This will be a skateboarding club with all equipment provided. The tutor, for safety reasons, has to cap the club at 15. Forms will be sent out on the first day back and we hope to start the club from the second week of school. If there is enough demand, we will move to a second cohort from the beginning of the second half of spring term and open it out to other year groups.
This has been an extremely challenging year for everyone and I would like to thank you all for your support throughout. I hope you all have a restful and enjoyable summer and I wish all of our Year 6 children the very best for the future!
