Cluster Sports
Well done to the Rhydri team who took part in the Cluster Sports Day last week and came fourth. The competition involved Machen, Ty’n Y Wern, St Helen’s, Graig Y Rhacca and our sister school, Bedwas Juniors who were the overall winners. The children were a credit to themselves and were excellent competitors. This was a lovely way to cap a year where our school has taken part in competitions and events covering rugby, athletics and hockey as well as having seen us host Cardiff City Academy, Glamorgan Cricket and a bowls session from Sport Caerphilly at our school. I would also like to thank the team at the Parish Hall for allowing to use their facilities for our sports sessions, sports day and our drumming workshops.
Playworks After-School Provision
Playworks used to run their after-school provision from our Rainbow Class building but due to low demand are unable to re-open the club as before. They are however offering to transport any Rhydri children who need to access their provision, with no additional cost, to their Bedwas House base. Those of you who have already completed an expression of interest form will be contacted but if this is a service which you would be interested in accessing, even if only on a casual basis contact Playworks for further information - www.playworks-childcare.co.uk
New Curriculum Survey
Over the summer holiday a survey will be open on our website to help with our new curriculum provision. Amongst other things, we are trying to gather information about the kinds of skills and experiences you have which you might be willing to share with the school in order to help us enhance our curriculum offer. You may also have knowledge of or links with external organisations or sites which you feel might help us with certain themes. Some suggestions that are gathered in the form might help guide us down new and exciting routes.
This has been an extremely challenging year for everyone and I would like to thank you all for your support throughout. I hope you all have a restful and enjoyable summer and I wish all of our Year 6 children the very best for the future!
